Hyderabad, Mar 24 : Stalemate in the Andhra Assembly over the Opposition''s demand for the constitution of a Joint Legislature Committee to probe land allotments made in the state since 2004, continued for the seventh day today.
Both the government and the Opposition stuck to their respective stands, leading to adjournment of the House for the day.
Major Industries Minister J Geeta Reddy accused the Opposition of "vitiating the investment climate" in the state.
"They (Opposition) are scaring away the investors from the state. Andhra Pradesh has been attracting good investments but the Opposition parties are vitiating the climate for entrepreneurs. Thousands of jobs are being lost because of this," she said.
There was also a verbal duel between Revenue Minister Raghuveera Reddy and TDP MLA Payyavula Keshav. The TDP members, holding placards, encircled the Speaker''s podium.
Amid the slogan-shouting by TDP MLAs, officiating Speaker Nadendla Manohar adjourned the House for the day after his repeated pleas for order fell on deaf ears.
"Only four more days are left in the Budget session. Let the House transact business smoothly...and take part in the discussion as suggested by the government," Manohar urged the TDP members, but to no avail.
Earlier in the day, the government turned down the TDP demand saying it would consider them only after a discussion in the House on the issue.
