Desecration of statues during million march out of anger: KCR

Hyderabad, Mar 14 : Leaders from non-Telangana regions are making a mountain out of a mole hill on the issue of desecration of statues of Telugu luminaries here during a pro-Telangana protest, TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao said here today.
"They say destruction of statues is like an act of Taliban. The leaders and others from non-Telangana regions have changed their versions on supporting the Telangana demand. Is it not like Taliban," he said, speaking at a meeting in Nalgonda district today.
The desecration of statues was an act done in anger by students and other Telangana supporters, he said.
As many as 16 of the 33 statues of Telugu luminaries, that also included some from Telangana, were vandalised during the ''million march to Hyderabad'' held in support of the Telangana demand last week.
The incident raised a massive public outcry over the desecration of the statues like that of saint-composer Annamayya, who sang songs in praise of Lord Venkateswara.
Rao expressed confidence that separate Telangana state would be a reality.
