New Delhi, April 12 : The unidentified woman, whose body was parcelled from Delhi to Rajasthan in a metal trunk earlier this month, was drugged before she was stabbed and burnt by the killer, police sources said Tuesday, referring to the autopsy report.
Delhi Police will Wednesday release a sketch of the suspect who parcelled the body April 2 from north Delhi.
The report of the autopsy conducted in Rajasthan indicated that the woman was aged around 25 and there were no signs of resistance by her, pointing to her having been drugged at the time of the assault, sources said.
'It appears that the killer was known to the victim who secretly drugged her,' said a source.
'A team of seven doctors performed the post-mortem examination Tuesday. The body was in a highly decomposed condition and was becoming tough to keep it in deep freezer,' Superintendent of Police (Ajmer) Vipin Kumar Pandey told IANS.
Doctors have also collected samples for DNA testing, he said.
A source said: 'The report reveals that the victim had shown no resistance when she was being stabbed repeatedly with a sharp weapon, her face was burnt, probably, to hide the identity.'
The Rajasthan and Delhi police are probing the murder mystery jointly. Investigators were at their wit's end with leads drying up in the case as none of the 15 families who had come forward to identify the body claimed it.
The body was placed in an old metal trunk and parcelled from Pili Kothi area in north Delhi to Kishangarh area of Ajmer in Rajasthan April 2. The disfigured and decomposed body was detected in Ajmer April 8.
The joint probe team is now concentrating on tracing the rickshawpuller who brought the trunk at Milap Transport Company before it was sent to Ajmer. A sketch of the rickshawpuller has been prepared.
Delhi Police will also release the photographs of the trunk and the sketch of the rickshawpuller Wednesday.
Police said that CCTV footage at the transport company - from where the killer parcelled the body around 2.30 p.m. April 2 -- was blurred.
The footage showed a rickshaw-puller accompanying the suspect while bringing the trunk to the office.
