Support for India's bid for permanent UNSC seat growing: PM

New Delhi, Apr 16 ): Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh on Saturday said that the support for the country's bid to get a permanent seat in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) is growing.
When asked about India's chances of getting a permanent seat at the UNSC, Dr. Singh said: "Well I think there is a growing support that security council and other international organs must reflect the realities of contemporary age rather than being embedded in era which is dead and gone. But I wouldn't say that we are there, it is work in progress, there is growing support for India's permanent membership in the UNSC."
Dr. Singh was addressing a news conference onboard his aircraft enroute Kazakhstan capital Astana to New Delhi.
He returned home after a five-day visit to China and Kazakhstan.
Dr. Singh had arrived in China's resort city of Sanya on Tuesday to take part in the third BRICS (Brazil-Russia-India-China-South Africa) summit.
After the four-day visit, Dr. Singh had arrived in Astana on Friday for an official visit at the invitation of Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev.
