2 more Indian pilots arrested in licensing scandal

An Indian official says two more airline pilots with fake documentation have been arrested in a growing investigation of corruption in awarding aviation licenses.
Anti-corruption official Umesh Mishra said Tuesday the two pilots flew with a budget airline and were awarded their licenses based on forged certificates.
Mishra said the training and licensing procedures of all flying schools in the country were being examined. A total of six pilots and some aviation officials are now under investigation.
Opposition lawmakers have accused the government of failing to check corruption in granting pilot licenses, thus endangering thousands of travelers.
Air travel in India has expanded alongside its rapidly growing economy, and airlines have struggled to hire pilots to meet the demand.
