Aarushi case: SC stays trial against Talwars

New Delhi: In a special hearing, the Supreme Court today stayed a CBI special court order summoning the Talwars to appear before it on March 22 and asked them to submit their passport to the trail court.

Rajesh and Nupur Talwar today moved the Supreme Court seeking stay of the special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court order summoning them to face trial in their daughter Aarushi and domestic help Hemraj's murder case.

On Friday, the High Court had dismissed Talwar's plea seeking quashing of the proceedings initiated by the lower court which not only refused the closure report of the CBI but also summoned them as accused in the case.

The dentist couple has challenged the Allahabad High Court's order rejecting their plea for the stay of Ghaziabad CBI special court direction to appear before it March 22 to face trial proceedings in the murder case.

Rajesh Talwar has challenged the Feb 28 order of the trial court issuing bailable warrant against him after he failed to appear before the court earlier.

Nupur Talwar has challenged the Feb 9 order of the CBI special court, summoning her as an accused in the case.

Fourteen-year-old Aarushi Talwar was brutally murdered in her Noida flat on the night of May 15-16, 2008. Hemraj was initially thought to be the killer but his body was found on the flat's terrace a day later.
