Civil war could split Libya into two parts

Tripoli, Mar.13 : As Libya plunges into civil war, it seems that Colonel Muammar Gaddafi is desperate to remain in power and may allow the country to be split in two so that he can rule over a new country, which will be called Western Libya.
It is believed that Gaddafi is unlikely to risk a bigger bloodbath by moving his forces east, where pro-democracy rebels have claimed control, even though he has aircrafts and tanks at his disposal.
The partition will allow Gaddafi to remain in power, but the new country would be a 'failed state' with little or no income from Libya's oil wealth, The Daily Express reports.
However, it will allow rebel fighters in Eastern Libya to set up an internationally recognized government.
An unofficial border has already been marked in the desert sands by the blood of Gaddafi's followers and corpses lay along the front line between the rebel-held town of Ugaylah and Ras Lanuf, where oil storage tanks were blown up after a fight on Friday.
Rebel fighter Bashir Warshfani said: "We don't care how long it takes, five years or 10 years. The gate has been opened. If I die, my brother takes my place, if he dies, my neighbor"
Lifting his shirt to show a bandaged bullet wound, he added: "Gaddafi will only get this country when he kills us all."addafi is determined to retain the west. Last week, he unleashed a crack armored brigade to retake Zawiya, the closest rebel-held town to Tripoli.
