Delhi girl's killing: Students continue protests

New Delhi, March 10 : Hundreds of Delhi University students Thursday continued their protest for the third consecutive day against the killing of second year student Radhika Tanwar who was shot dead near her south Delhi college earlier this week.

A students' group has also called for a university shut down Friday.
Around 400 students from the university's South Campus at Dhaula Kuan took out a candle light march in the afternoon.
The students started off from Radhika's institution, Ram Lal Anand (RLA) College in Shantinikethan, and visited all South Campus colleges.
'Students and teachers together marched to various colleges. The numbers kept on increasing as we visited each college and students kept joining us. We culminated the march by returning to our college,' Suman Tanwar, president of the students' association of RLA college, told IANS.
'It was a silent march to pray for the departed girl. We neither raised slogans nor made any demands,' Tanwar added.
'However, our protest will continue till the time Radhika's killers are punished.'
Similar protests were held in the university's North Campus where around 200 students from various colleges gathered on Chhatra Marg and disrupted traffic by blocking the road.
'We have also submitted a memorandum to the vice-chancellor demanding more security for students, especially girls. We will not sit quietly till Radhika gets justice,' said Rohit Chahal, state secretary, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad.
'We have called for a shutdown in the university Friday,' added Chahal.
