Radioactive substances found in Japan food

Tokyo, March 19 : Radiation levels have exceeded allowable limits in foodstuff like spinach and milk following leaks at the Fukushima nuclear plant, the Japanese government's top spokesman said Saturday.
Chief Cabinet Secretary Yukio Edano said tainted milk and spinach were found in Fukushima and Ibaraki prefectures, respectively, according to Xinhua.
This was the first case of food contamination by radiation since the March 11 quake caused radioactive leaks at the nuclear power plant.
On average, the dose of radiation a person absorbs after a year's consumption of the contaminated milk is equivalent of taking one CT scan in hospital, he said.
Edano did not give more detailed information but urged the public to remain calm.
