Islamabad, April 8: Pakistan has denied reports of alleged Chinese presence along the Indo-Pak Line of Control (LoC) as "absurd" and "totally baseless".
When asked during a press briefing about Pakistan's take on the issue that Indian External Affairs Ministry had sought a detailed report from the Indian Defence Ministry on the possible presence of Chinese soldiers along the LoC between India and Pakistan, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tehmina Janjua replied: "We have seen such reports in the Indian press."
"This is the most absurd piece of information I have heard. It is totally baseless," she stated.
However, talking about the process of Indo-Pak engagement under their resumed dialogue process, Janjua said that it is moving ahead, and added that Pakistan attaches considerable importance to the dialogue process.
She expressed confidence that talks between the Commerce Secretaries of the two countries, who will meet in Islamabad on 27-28 April, would be "imbued by a spirit of enlightened national interests on both sides," and added that dates for the meeting on Sir Creek are expected to be finalized shortly.
"Sir Creek will be addressed by the concerned Additional Secretary/ Surveyor General. No dates have yet been decided. Siachin will be addressed by Defense Secretaries," she said in response to a question.
When asked whether the Pakistan Government has received a formal request from India in the wake of Indian Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao giving indications that India is willing to send its cricket team to Pakistan, Janjua said: "Any sporting event between two countries especially neighbours, are welcome. As for the specific matter of any visit taking place, we have no such information."
