Rajini's request

Superstar Rajinikanth has made an appeal, not to give any award in his name. He said this while speaking at the annual day function of Ashram Group of Institutions, run by Latha Rajinikanth, in Chennai on Thursday.
At the function, The Rajini Legend Award was given to late Bollywood actor Shammi Kapoor, actress Asha Parekh and legendary Kollywood director K Balachander. Latha Rajinikanth honoured the awardees.
Also, Chevalier Sivaji Award was given to V S Raghavan, Bhishma Award to singer A L Raghavan, actress M N Rajam, Table Tennis plyaer Chandrasekar, musician Vikku Vinayakram, teacher Nithya Agnihotri and cinema historian Film News Anandan. Students of Ashram Schools were also honoured.
Speaking on the occasion, Rajini said, "I wonder why an award has been named after me. I didn't achieve anything big. So I appeal to kindly rename the award." Following this, it has been announced that the Rajini Legend Award will be rechristened as Balachander Legend Award from next year.
