New Delhi, May 10: The Delhi High Court joint registrar Tuesday fixed June 1 as the date to collect the blood sample of veteran Congress leader N.D. Tiwari in connection with a paternity suit.
Joint Registrar Deepak Garg directed Tiwari, his alleged biological son Rohit Shekhar and his mother Ujwala Sharma to be present before the court to give their blood samples post lunch.
Garg also directed Tiwari to pay Rs.75,000 to Shekhar within one week, as per an earlier order of Justice Geeta Mittal.
A single judge bench of the court Dec 23, 2010 had asked Tiwari to undergo a DNA test on the suit filed by Rohit Shekhar, 31, who claims to be his biological son.
Shekhar claims he was born out of the leader's alleged relationship with his mother Ujwala Sharma.
Tiwari, who held the posts of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand chief minister, had opposed the paternity suit. The octogenarian leader had to quit as governor of Andhra Pradesh in December 2009 after a sex scandal.
